LED display scanning mode and basic working principle

With the development of LED technology, the brightness of LED electronic displays has been increasing, and the size is getting smaller and smaller, which indicates that more LED electronic displays into the indoor will become the general trend. However, due to the improvement of LED brightness and pixel density to the LED screen control and drive also brings new higher requirements. On the general indoor screen, now the common control method are used in rows and columns of sub-control mode, that is, usually referred to as the scanning mode, at present, the LED electronic display drive mode has a static scanning and dynamic scanning two kinds of static scanning is divided into static real pixels and static virtual, dynamic scanning is also divided into dynamic real image and dynamic virtual.

In the LED electronic display, the number of rows lit at the same time and the ratio of the number of rows in the whole area, called scanning mode. And scanning is also divided into 1/2 scan, 1/4 scan, 1/8 scan, 1/16 scan and so on several driving methods. That is to say, the display is not the same drive mode, then the receiver card settings are also different. If the receiver card was originally used in the 1/4 scanning screen, now used in the static screen, then the display on the display will be every 4 rows of bright line. General receiving card can be set up, connected to the sending card, display, computer and other major devices, you can enter the relevant software on the computer to set up.   • LED electronic display scanning mode.

1. Dynamic scanning: dynamic scanning is from the output of the driver IC to the pixel between the implementation of the "point-to-column" control, dynamic scanning control circuit is required, the cost is lower than the static scanning, but the display effect is poorer, greater loss of brightness.

2.  Static scanning: static scanning is the output from the driver IC to the pixel between the implementation of the "point-to-point" control, static scanning does not require control circuits, the cost is higher than the dynamic scanning, but the display effect is good, good stability, less loss of brightness and so on.

  • LED electronic display 1/4 scan mode working principle:

It means that the power supply V1-V4 of each line is turned on for 1/4 of the time each according to the control requirements within 1 frame of image. The advantage of this is that the display characteristics of LEDs can be more effectively utilized and hardware costs can be reduced. The disadvantage is that each line of LEDs can only display 1/4 of the time in 1 frame.

  • According to the LED electronic display type scanning method classification:

1. Indoor full-color LED electronic display scanning mode: P4, P5 for constant current 1/16, P6, P7.62 for constant current 1/8.

2. Outdoor full color LED electronic display screen scanning mode: P10, P12 for constant current 1/2, 1/4, P16, P20, P25 for static.

3.  Single and double color LED electronic display screen scanning mode is mainly constant current 1/4, constant current 1/8 scan, constant current 1/16 scan.
